Ek Chin with Sahana Bajracharya

Sahana Bajracharya is someone who has established herself in Nepal's showbiz circuit well in a short span of time. Graced with exotic features Miss Bajracharya can often be seen plastered across newspapers and billboards modelling various jewellery to electronic items. Her participation in Miss Nepal 2010 was her second attempt and she gained victory by bringing the First Runner-Up crown home. Through this interview I have explored as to why she decided to participate in Miss Nepal given that she was already getting somewhere and if her status or links could have put her at an advantage in comparison to her competitors. Fresh from her return from Vietnam after representing Nepal at Miss Earth, Sahana created an online-buzz after pictures of her in a bikini surfaced online. I am confident that my readers will agree with me when I say she is undoubtedly the best Miss Nepal with THE BIKINI BODY.
Nonetheless, she proves to us that she is not just a pretty face. Sahana has set her aims high; with upcoming projects to promote domestic tourism in Nepal this beauty queen may not only be beautiful ;)

Firstly, Congrats for Miss Nepal 1st Runner Up win and representing Nepal at Miss Earth, to sum it up what has the been the highlights so far and what have you yet to experience? Thank you team Nepunity! I believe, being a part of Miss Nepal in itself is an experience that takes a woman to a different level of maturity. I was a part of Miss Nepal in 2008 but unfortunately, the pageant intercepted due to fierce protest from various women activist groups. Everyday, there was something to learn and it prepared me for who and where I am today. My first venture in media also commenced here as Dabur Special Light Hair Oil endorsed me as their brand ambassador.
In 2010, being crowned Miss Nepal First Runner Up brought in more opportunites to learn more experiences, live my crown and interact with prominent personalities. (I was one of the very few people who got an opportunity to meet The NASA Administrator, Charles F. Bolden :)
The Crown keeps unfolding interesting events my way and I really dont know what I have yet to experience. :)
Miss Nepal Trio - Sadichha, Sahana and Sanyukta
Coming back to Miss Nepal, even before the pageant you were already a familiar face in the media circuit. Do you feel as if you had an unfair advantage in comparison to the other contestants?Being a familiar face in the media has nothing much to do with the competition. As we enter our training hall, we are all treated the same. We get the same grooming and the equal training. But outside the training hall, to the audience and the media, to be honest, I suppose I did. I might have got a little more preferance and coverage but again, at the end of the day, it was "ME", all by myself, who had to fight the competition. Being a familiar face is actually a burden as you have more hopes on you and it kind of builds a pressure, which isn't an advantage but definitely unfair, to the person.

So what was the key factor behind an already well known media personality competing for the coveted Miss Nepal title?I still wanted to be Miss Nepal, when I was'nt a known face back in 2008. Ever since I've known the pageant and that every year I watched it on television, I WANTED to be there. The fame did not attract me to the Crown, but the "Change" that this Crown brought. I saw how our Miss Nepals, all of them so far, proved themselves , as not only a beautiful face, but a beauty with a purpose, a woman of substance and I knew I had it all and wanted the transformation it could bring. And not to forget , every year the crown gets better and better, you just WANT it!!!
Sahana with Designer Tenzin Bhutia - also wearing his design
Out of Sadichha, Sanyukta and you, you undoubtedly looked as if you had the better preparation; your gowns, grooming and body was brilliant. Would you agree that your status helped you gain this treatment?Preparation is a must in any sort of competition and yes, I did prepare myself for Miss Nepal. Because, even if I didnt win I still wouldnt regret, because I gave my best. I read a lot, I updated myself on every topic, from politics to prices of vegetables. Physically, I did not let my laziness take over me at the gym. I would actually imagine that crown and run an extra kilometer. But once in the competition, as I said earlier, we are all treated the same. Our gowns for the finale too was chosen by our designer and choreographer.
A little story on my gown. Night before the finale, on our final trial for our gown, mine was the only gown which was a complete disaster. It looked like a borrowed nighty from my aunty. I embarrased myself by bursting into tears infront of everyone that night. But Im gald it looked good on the fianle.
More than being a media personality, my work experience was a bonus point. I was a host for a talk show, Yugantar, on Image Channel, where I interviewed, women from all fields from politicians to activists, which definitely broadened by knowledge, boosted my confidence on screen and built up my personality.

You've completed the main duty by going to Miss Earth, is there anything left for you to do?Yes, my main duty, that came along the crown, representation in Miss Earth 2010 is complete but my reponsibility towards the society will never end, even after I crown the next Miss Nepal Earth.
This title is a benefit to my name and I will make the best out of it. I am already working on my first documentary on Chhaupadi- A custom of forced isolation for women menstruating in West Nepal. Every year, number of girls and women lose their lives due to low hygiene and snake bites due to the isolation. This is so far the most challenging project so far in my life as I myself will be experiencing the tradition and village life. I will start shooting in February 2011.

Sahana long-before Miss Nepal
For the future Miss Nepal hopefuls what do you think they should be aware of before competing in such a national pageant?A lot of girls who apply or wish to apply for Miss Nepal think that it is only about having a pretty face and a good height. Yes, pretty face, to some extent is important , after all its a beauty pageant but it not just that.
Miss Nepal is a represenation of all the women of Nepal and most importantly, our country. So read a lot, make yourself aware on issues, it helps you grow and build interesting conversations with people.
Learn about your country and countrymen and feel pride in being a Nepali because you will get a life time opportunity to represent your nation to the world in international beauty pageants. Please do start working out atleast 3 months before you enter the pageant. If you want to look good, you will have to go through a little hardship. And most important of all, start building a positive attitude and be comfortable in the person you are!

Who is your favourite Miss Nepal till date?Miss Nepal 2009, Zenisha Moktan. Partly because she is my best friend but because she is my best friend I know her very well as a person and she is beautiful inside out. She has carried her duties remarkably well and as I mentioned earlier that my responsibility as the title holder will not end with my tenure, so hasnt for Zenisha aswell. She established a project under the name "Project Muskaan", during her reign where she conducted health camps and raised funds for the school children in Rasuwa. She is still going strong with her project as we are organizing a fund raiser to build toilets in one of the rural villages of Sindhupalchowk. Enough reasons to have her as my favourite Miss Nepal!
Sahana sizzles alongside beauties of the world
What can we expect from Sahana on IMAGE TV in the coming days?I am no more with Image Channel but definitelty I will be back very soon on television with a travel show. I will be exploring 15 new destinations in Nepal with a motive to promote ethnic communites, their cultures and cusines and domestic tourism. This will be my next venture and my contribution to Nepal Toursim Year 2011, as an individual.
What would you like to achieve in 2011?I have actually sorted out my To-Do list for the year 2011. It will be all about chasing my dreams of making documentaries and working for underprivilidged women and children. Also, melting of Himalayas due to climate change has also caught my interest, so definitely something in the field of environment too. And a little for myself, more makeups and hopefully some Choo's :).

Finally, thank you for your time. Any last words for lexlimbu.com surfers? If you could finish reading my interview, then WOW you guys have great patience. Thankyou for supporting me and liking my work so far. Much love !!!

Pashupati Paints; just few of her work.
I wake up at: Any hour. Depends on my mood, schedule and the night before ;)
On a Friday night: I catch up with my social life and update to city gossips.
Jharana Bajracharya is: NOT my sister nor are we related. If we were, I would have her dusky beauty too. She is one of the finest actresses in Nepal.
The Nepali guy with the fittest body is: ............! This question actually caused quite a stir among my guy friends..But I couldnt come up with one single name. I realized there are so many and I didnt want to break hearts by naming just one ;)

Sahana Bajracharya is: fearfully and wonderfully made..♥

Machine Readable Passports

Being the member of the ICAO, Nepal was obliged to introduce machine readable passports by March 2010 however due to various setbacks and Nepali Timing; Nepal has finally seen light and MRP's has been introduced with the first passport given to CNN Hero Anuradha Koirala followed by diplomats.

MRP's are very handy to travel abroad these days as they save a lot of time however there are many disadvantages for people in Nepal. To obtain an MRP passport you would have to travel all the way to Kathmandu... now think of all the less fortunate citizens who want to obtain a passport to work abroad. In the past they could've simply gone to their jilla and obtained it from there. Aside from that Im still a bit confused as to what is going to happen to those with the written-passport. Im guessing once the written-passport expires then you will have to obtain a MRP-passport.

Well, this is a good step forward, now the government should focus on infrastructure, better roads, street lighting, better public transport and the list will continue to 2600. ;)

Photos from SAY YES by TopEvent UK

Say Yes party by TopEvent UK took place on the 19th December just when London was going through one of the coldest Winters in history. With Arctic weather conditions and snow affecting much of the country it was a tense moment for event organisers on the 19th. On the same night Farnborough Ballers had Hamro Party - Traffic Light Party at Club Colleseum in Vauxhall. Its pretty evident that to make a Nepali party successful it needs to be attended not only by those living in the area but those who travel from afar. Whatever doubts the event organisers may have had slowly faded away when masses of Nepalese party animals graced both events.
Showing their true Nepalese; Gurkha Spirit - the word is that BOTH events was enjoyed by the attendees. Here are some of the images from SAY YES which took place at the World-class MINISTRY OF SOUND. I remember walking into the VIP lounge at 2am after finishing my duties and this was one of the first time where everyone had got tipsy before me. All in all, my observation tells me people had a pleasant time.

My theory on parties is that, its the same, same DJ (in most cases), same music, its about you and who you're with. You are the dance, the party is the music. You have to MAKE it fun.

Merry Christmas

Greetings to everyone. Merry Christmas to all my readers from everywhere around the world. I hope you all have a pleasant day, full of new experiences and flashbacks of the good memories. Celebrations and festivals are also the moment where we are reminded of the past; of that person who is not here anymore or who has now become distant. However, this year there maybe someone new.
Live each day like its your last but learn like you'll live forever and so on. Taking photos may not be the best thing but remember to capture your memories somehow.
You shall see a change on lexlimbu.com in the coming months but for now you guys can expect to read Ek Chin with Sahana Bajracharya on the 28th December. Take Care and Stay Safe

Icebar in London - BELOW ZERO!

Ever since I started University I see myself indulging in various things that wasnt really me before. I guess its all about ''Living Only Once''. Yesterday evening I along with few friends in tow visited Ice Bar in London which is just off Regent Street. Now this is not just any bar, after paying £16 per person for the entry fee which came with a complimentary cocktail we waited for our time slot to be let into the bar which is -5 degrees. Now dont ask me why we went to the Ice Bar when London is already in freezing conditions. The ice slabs have apparently been imported from Sweden and the foreign lady warned us if we break anything including the ice-glass then we would get fined. The session lasts 45 minutes but it only took 7 minutes for us to start wondering around aimlessly and start playing antakshari.
The song of the moment was ''Pan Ko Paat'' and we even did a medley of Jingle Bells to kick the Christmas spirit in. After few minutes of that we hugged the ice, dared each other to lick the ice table - just imagine how many people have touched them. Urgh, but hey I did it. If your wallets quiet thick and you want to experience something else then go ahead and visit the Ice Bar or else give it a miss for now.
PS. You will get a very hideous looking poncho type of jacket with attached gloves for your session.

Oops Om Hospital Does It Again...

Oops Om Hospital Does It Again...
One of Nepal's leading hospitals, Om Nursing Home located in Kathmandu has once again come into the news after a mistreatment of a pregnant woman which led to the delivery of her premature baby with its stomach being split open. The baby is no longer alive. It is reported that the couple who travelled all the way from Solukhumbu were bribed with money to not report this news to the media. Dr. Rita Manandhar operated on the woman during this fateful day. Now I will not tell you what happened A-Z however if you wish to know then please read the full news article HERE as published on Naya Patrika.
Om Hospital's name is not new to such incidents; various happenings including the death of a patient during his day of discharge because of the nurse's mismanagement has made it on the news before.
I also have a family member who underwent an operation at Om Hospital and ever since her operation she has had to endure scar tissue problems. She was operated by Dr. Bhola Rijal alongside his junior doctors. Now, Im not saying Om Hospital is officially the worst... Im saying most hospitals in Nepal even the ones that you pay lakhs and lakhs for still do not give you the service that you pay for.
I could make a video slanting the group of nurses in Om Hospital who I had to face during my grandfathers last few days however I chose not to. The nurses, MINORITY or MAJORITY of them do not take their profession seriously. They know nothing but to ask you (the patients relative) to BE THE NURSE. While my grandfather lay there, I was required to crush his medicine pills, mix it with water and feed it through the pipe; the list goes on. When I asked the nurse why she wasnt doing this she boldly replied ''who's going to do this when he goes home''. The thing is, Im at the fucking hospital paying for a service where you are required to do the work.
This whole post is my opinion I can write on and on about the ill-treatment that my grandfather recieved at this hospital but I'd rather not... If you are going to disagree with it then I'm fine with it. I am not here to change your views. Im just here to project mine.

The Last Resort forced to SHUT DOWN!!

Indeed a sad day for the tourism sector in Nepal. With only few days away from the much hyped Nepal Tourism Year 2011, The Last Resort which is home to bungee jumping, canyon swing, canyoning and various other thrilling activities has been forced to shut down after dispute between the management and the local VDC's. One of the local VDC has illegally blocked the bridge off connecting the resort to the roadside. The press release from TLR is below, have a read.
I had the opportunity to visit TLR last year where I stayed overnight and I must say its an oasis. I took photos there but the photos never came out as beautiful as what I experienced. The staff there were mostly all locals who got the opportunity from this company so I dont really know what really happened during the talks but I just hope they come up with a quick solution which will benefit both sides in the long term.
Jai Nepal!

UPDATE: 23/12/10 - Operations have fully resumed!

Some of this and some of that...

by Palomino~

VISIT NEPAL 2011 PHOTO COMPETITION is being hosted by PARCHA PRODUCTIONS. It involves sending a picture that best represents the appeal of Nepal to the rest of the world to the admin who then upload it for you and the picture liked by most of the people within Facebook will get to select the winner who will win the first prize of a £100 and the runner up will get £50. If the winner is not living in UK they will get the sum closest to that amount within whichever nation they reside in. Follow link http://www.facebook.com/pages/Parcha-Productions-FunLimited/121666784525051 for more info!

Parcha along with N9 currently have an upcoming grand new year party in London, http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=127203704007377&index=1 follow the link to check out more detail of the party. I am attending it because its New Years eve, you have to do something memorable blah blah blah...also London and the tubes will all grind to a halt as everyone holds their breath to watch the dreaded fireworks off London eye- have seen that but would probably have looked better and felt warmer if I had watched it on telly. I am also attending it because the dudes at Parcha can throw amazing parties and I hear they have live fireworks at this party!

I have heard some cynics badmouth event companies and enterprises that have lately propped up in UK. Fair enough they have their views but me I am maintaining a positive stance on it. So some people want to make money using some ideas and aiming for a particular market- sound familiar? Erm yep that your HSBC bank, your tesco supermarket, your Topshop retailer, your hairdresser or in other words capitalism at work. This is the world baby! We are all consumers and I would happily be a consumer for a Nepali cause.

UK's Turn to Help Kumar Kancha

You may have already read my previous post which talked about the event 'An Evening for Kumar Kancha'which is taking place tommorow at Patan Museum and is organized by Namrata Shrestha. The Nepalese diaspora in Australia have been very dedicated in raising funds for Kumar Kancha with more than $3277 Australian dollars already raised. Nepal has raised more than Nrs 106,141 so I believe it is now time for us in the UK to raise money for Kumar Kancha.

By the beginning of next week I shall have a new page on this blog which gives more detailed information about donaters. However for now, a poster is being made and UK'S TURN TO HELP KUMAR KANCHA will be mentioned tonight on BFBS Gurkha Radio and the poster will also be printed on Europe's Nepali Patra. Its not about how much you give, its about the support. Feel free to give as much or as little. Whatever we raise, will be sent across to Namrata Shrestha where she will forward the amount to the right people.
I will try my best to make this whole process transparent and I know trust is a key issue here, if you do not believe that what I am doing is genuine then feel free to seek other ways to help Kumar Kancha.

Talking movies with Vinay Shrestha

Vinay Shrestha is one out of the many new actors who have made Nepali movies his profession. Having started off as a model appearing in various music videos, Shrestha went to Mumbai where he enlisted himself in an acting course later to make his debut in Alok Nembang's Sano Sansar. Vinay is back with his third release which has a multi-cast, Ek Din Ek Raat. After the success of First Love, Vinay is positive that the audience will accept Ek Din Ek Raat as this movie could probably be the first thriller of Nepali Cinema. Whether the audience will accept it or not is something we shall find out once the flick hits cinemas all over Nepal on the 31st of December.

Firstly, we know that you have an upcoming release Ek Din Ek Raat on Dec 31st; explain to us what the movie and what your character is about? The movie is a thriller and I play a journalist having a mission to prove something in 24 hours ofcourse along with the team.

Vinay with Deeya Maskey
You once said ''If the movie and modelling scenario improves, I am here to stay for a long time'' (ournepal.com interview), being a dozen or more music videos old and having done three movies; Is Vinay Shrestha here for good? Verrrry much so and slowly I will be entering into production too. Its about 35 videos that will probably be my next project.

Through your short movie career you've been lucky to have had the opportunity to play diverse characters with depth. What has been your favourite character till date? I can never have enough of my character in Sano Sansar coz I believe I can do that effortlessly..haha

Having studied acting in Bombay prior to your entry in movies do you think that was enough to compete alongside the new actors who are from the theatre background? Well! I am not here to compete but to do work that satisfies me deep within... I believe in myself and the course I underwent in Mumbai. I bet it'll take me a long way...

What are the advantages of fame and recognition in Nepal? Actually nothing...We run out of advantages, wish we had plenty.

Any crazy fan experience yet? Recently a girl in a club in Pokhara ran to me and kissed passionately. Woof!!! That was unexpected...mind u I didnt return it ;)

Whos the most famous person in your mobile contacts? My loved one.

Sell Ek Din Ek Raat to us.
Everyone should watch it because its the first Nepali thriller released so far and technically its flawless. The are performance which is just spectacular from Saugat Malla, Karma, Pooja and Deeya. My role is something new for the audience as well so I hope you enjoy my performance. Thanks Lex, I really appreciate this.

Gurkha VC Hero Passes Away

Sorry I've been a bit slow in sharing this bit of sad news. VC Lachhiman Gurung has passed away at the age of 93. He was a prominent figure during the Gurkha Justice campaign alongside Joanna Lumley and has a glorious past which will make his family and the entire Nepalese population proud to be Nepali.
VC Gurung had been living in Hounslow, West London for the past couple of years.
RIP and Prayers to his family.

Prince Paras arrested in Pokhara

To cut a long story short - Former Prince Paras has been arrested from The Fulbari Resort (Pokhara) on Tuesday for his drunken act in Tiger Tops Resort in Chitwan on Saturday evening with Rubel Chaudhary (Sujata Koirala's son-in-law). After a 5 hour stand-off, Paras gave himself in but asked to be escorted by a private helicopter to Bharatpur Regional Police Station. It is said that he will be spending the next few nights in a one-bedroomed cell.
Various parties have come together to boycott Paras and are asking for the court to give him up to 12 years in prison. Like seriously, all he did was threaten to kill someone, we have ministers in the Govnt who have killed families, looted thousands and are still sitting their fat asses in the CA and slowing the whole movement. Yes PUNISH HIM but 12 years is just wayyyy outta the line. O and PUNISH HIM for this, not for his family's behaviour or for his past behaviour.
Read the previous Para article here!

Also, like all the drama seems to be taking place at Resorts! Im going there with my camcorder next year ;) - The third picture is of Royalists who came out to support Paras. We live in such a fickle nation. The people rose to abolish Monarchy, and slowly they are rising to bring back Monary. ARE WE READY?

Beauty Contest for ELEPHANTS

From December 26th, Chitwan will host its very own Elephant Festival and in this festival there will also be a Miss Jumbo beauty contest. Now kudos to the person who thought of this!! What next? Miss Bhaisi?hhaha! There will also be a football tournament, sprint and a catwalk where up to 10 elephant cubs will be showcasing their dresses. A panel of five judges will scrutinise their ability to do the Namaste, walk on two feet and dance. As part of the talent round, they will have to pick up coins and flowers and perform other tricks.
Do you think PETA will get involved in this? lol, Poor elephants, I hope they have fun. Cant wait to see them in their dresses. LoL

Prince Paras Shoots!

Former Crown Prince Paras was at Tiger Tops Jungle Lodge(Chitwan) with his family when he was engaged in a verbal scuffle between Rubel Chaudhary on Saturday evening, the son-in-law of Deputy PM Sujata Koirala. Now no one really knows what happened like most Nepali news - but its believed that Paras persistently conversed with Rubel about the political situation and blamed the Koiralas for the removal of monarchy in the country.
It is said that when Paras was insulted by Rubel, he whipped out a gun and threatened to open fire. After this incident the Chaudhary couple was advised to return to their room whilst Paras sat drinking. The couple left the next morning and Paras and family are believed to be in Fulbari Resort in Pokhara. The updated news is that Paras had not obtained a license to carry fire-arms from Kathmandu therefore he has broken the law. Deputy PM Koirala has vowed to take stern actions against Prince Paras after her return from abroad.

Manifesting A Dream by Mamita L. Setling

Watch this 12minute long documentary made by Mamita L. Setling (Parbati from NepUNITY's AJA BHOLI video). Manifesting A Dream focuses on Mastakush (Kush Limbu) from Belgium and his views on what Hip-Hop is. Also in the video is London's very own Mastermind (Kavir Tamang). Isn't Mamita's documentary just amazing? So professional. O and Mastakush is just real. True individual. A lotta things he says in the video are just bang on.
I hope all the talents shown in the video and those behind the scenes continue to grow. Hopefully we can see more from Mastakush and more awesome documentaries from Mamita L. Setling.

K Yo Maya Ho - New Nepali Film

These are the EXCLUSIVE on set pictures of Sudarshan Thapa's next movie Ke Yo Maya Ho which stars Aryan Sigdel, Saugat Malla, Sushma Karki and Arunima Lamsal. Almost all of the filming took place in Pokhara and Jomsom. The movie focuses on the four friends relationship etc. and apparently also showcases the living together before marriage trend! Sounds interesting. Lets see if Director Sudarshan Thapa can bring originality in Ke Yo Maya Ho unlike his previous Mero Euta Saathi Cha(carbon-copy of Millionaires First Love).
PS. doesnt the photos remind you of Kohi...Mero? Just saying!!!

Namaste, Perverts!

This post is inspired from a blog that I follow. The Ajnabee; Shes a Londoner who's now working somewhere in Terai, Nepal and her posts are about her experiences and encounters in Nepal. Nowadays surprisingly a large amount of people that land up on my website lexlimbu.com actually search lexlimbu on google. Now thats quite something right? People are searching my name on google.[Next- Wikipedia Page Please] How intriguing. There are many good key terms I have found that people use to land up on my website such as, Nepali Films, Successful Limbu, Jharana Bajracharya and a host of other upcoming talents name etc.
However, there are times when I just stare at the computer screen thinking 'what the hell was that person searching'. Above are the KEY TERMS searched in that week and below are a few other examples of the most baffling ones that I've come across:
  • sathi lex condom
  • naked nepali
  • nepali kiss
  • rekha thapa sex tape
  • karishma manandhar boobs
  • prabal gurung salary
  • Dalle Khursani
  • gay sex nepali
  • nepali fanny
I bet those people out there who are searching for a quick relief really get mad when they end up on some random Nepali boys blog from London. I would. haha! Well to everyone that end up here somehow... Happy Surfing - Do share my links and More google searches for lexlimbu :D

Bet'cha didnt know that did ya? Pictured above is the sensation Elvis Presley alongside Queen Ratna and King Mahendra during their visit to California in 1960. The Royal couple was entertained by Elvis during the filming for his movie and after that they also visited Disney World.

Snow Fever Night on 10th Dec

If you're free on the 10th of December then consider yourself busy now. Snow Fever Night takes place on the 10th at Club Cable, London Bridge. This is the first ever party organised by Red Ink who largely comprise of Nepalese living in Kent. The snow/fog theme to the party makes it different to what we've been to before in terms of Nepali parties O and also this is in London Bridge. Makes a change from Vauxhall, I swear down - Vauxhall is like my second home now. The party starts at 10PM and if you wanna get lucky then the first 20 couples will get free entry.
